Author: David Colyer

Bio: Born in Ruskin College, Oxford, 1944. Educated at Holy Trinity Primary School East Finchley, then Woodhouse Grammar, North Finchley.

First job as a clerk in MGM, St James Street, Piccadilly, then worked for Vehicle and General Insurance Co, in Bolton Street. First travelling expedition was in 1962, with my fellow clerk Trevor Baverstock, when we went to Paris and got as far as Nancy in Northern France and ended up in Luxembourg, where we had to go to the British Consul for assisted passage back to England, after 4 weeks.

The next attempt at ‘seeking our fortune’, happened in 1966, when I drove Trev and his brother Greg, around Europe, until we ended up grape picking in Provence. After that, there was another jaunt down to Spain and Portugal, with Greg and his girl friend Jenny, in 1969.

After that, I opened an Insurance Brokers business in Glasgow, which had to close down in 1993 and after a short mid-life crisis, I got married to a Chinese lady in 2002, which began our annual visits to China.

Synopsis: This publication follows the path to China following the marriage to a Chinese lady living in England. It contains diary entries and impressions of living in China, both good and bad. It's an honest appraisal of the experiences in China and the travels that ensued.
